SHE DID IT!!

Last week Sunday Evie started CRAWLING!! We were saying for a couple of weeks, "anyday now she's just going to take off". And she did! Look out world... Evie's mobile!!!

I just feel like she's growing and learning SO fast! Also on Sunday she figured out how to work the sippy cup. Other new developments include feeding herself the bottle, eating Cheerios and playing in her toy kitchen from Uncle Brian and Aunt Claire. She'd better slow down soon with all this new stuff because I can't handle it!! :)

Here's a video of her crawling. This was taken today and after looking at a video of her crawling on Monday, it's amazing how quickly she's gotten the hang of it. She's not a speed demon yet, but you just wait. (Oh, and of course her motivation to crawl is usually to get to Louie's bone or toy... great...).

One of Evie's new favorite toys is the rubber scraper. She loves to chew it!

I couldn't believe she was actually sleeping like this! Kyle says, "like Father/like daughter!" :)

Louie and Evie are best buds! He is SO GREAT with her! He's super patient and doesn't mind her rolling all over him and pulling his ears/eyes/everything. Yesterday she even climbed over his head to get to a toy and he just laid there! He'll give her "kisses" and she gives them right back (which really is her trying to eat his nose and ears and fur in general...). It's really funny to watch them together.

Being Evie's Mom

Yesterday I celebrated my first Mother's Day! I now understand why people like Mother's Day more than their birthdays. This Mommy thing is the BEST THING EVER!!!!!!! I'm so proud to be Evie's Mom! I have really enjoyed every stage so far, and they definitely keep getting better and better.

The cute story of the week is that this weekend Evie and I were going through the nightly getting-ready-for-bed routine and after she and I read 2 books I cradle her in my arms and sing her a few songs before putting her in her crib. While I'm singing I usually carress her head, forehead and cheeks. Well this time, while I was doing that, she slowly lifted her arm and started running her hand through my hair (not pulling it) and then ran her hand across my face over and over while "singing" (kind of a quiet hummm in different pitches). It was the best thing EVER!!!!!!

I can't wait to see what's in store for us as this little one gets bigger and bigger! :)

Evie Monster

Evie's newer thing lately is she makes this noise that sounds like Grover or the Cookie Monster (kind of a raspy-voice-talking-thing). It's pretty hilarious and kind of in line with her fake burps. So when she does it we call her Evie Monster. She is also mastering rolling around on the floor and gets around pretty easily. And though you can't tell by these pictures, her hair is really coming in! It's pretty light, but is getting thicker by the week, I swear! :)

A couple of posts ago there's a video of Grandma Hornickel showing Evie how to do the "ba ba ba" sound by tapping her mouth. Well, Evie figured out how to do it herself! She's just so fun and funny!!

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

Happy Easter Everybody! These past 2 weeks since I put up a new post have been very productive for little miss Evie! A couple of weeks ago she just took off! She's rolling like crazy! Kyle picked her up from daycare and our daycare lady said, "I put her down on the floor, went to get a glass of juice and by the time I came back she was across the room!" So of course I had to try it at home that night and sure enough, off she goes! It's super cute
Her other new tricks include waving bye (she does that one about half the time), she can pretty much sit up on her own (though we still have to be right there cuz she's still pretty tipsy), she's holding the bottle by herself (a little awkward but it's VERY helpful) and is eating veggies now! Unlike her parents, she even enjoys carrots. (Was crossing my fingers on that one... :). And I'm not sure that it's a "trick", but this week she got her first cold. She's been a trooper: doesn't seem to mind that she's pretty congested and has to breath through her mouth. :(

Here are pictures of her in her adorable Easter dress, sitting by herself!
And Louie was getting "into" the holiday spirit as well. Hee hee... he'd do ANYTHING for a treat! :)
Thanks for the ears Grandma Hornickel!

Grandma & Grandpa's Visit

Kyle's parents came to visit this past weekend and we had a great time. Evie talks a lot, so Grandma Hornickel taught her a new trick while she's "chatting" (see the video). Grandma Hornickel also has a knack for taking SUPER cute pictures. Here are a bunch of our growing Evie!

Unfortunately the adorable Badger gear didn't help them win the basketball game. (Thanks Uncle Ryan and Aunt Niki for the outfit!)

It was in the 70's so Evie got to wear her first summer dress!

Crinkle Nose

Last week Evie's big trick was that she started crinkling her nose when she smiled. It's seriously the CUTEST THING EVER!!! It's been hard to get it on camera cuz she's still distracted by the flash. (And seriously, the pictures don't do it justice!)

Trip to WI

A couple of weeks ago, Evie and I flew to WI for a week to spend time with my dad who had heart surgery. We had such a great visit with everyone! Dad's doing SO well and it was nice to relax with the fam. We got to go to our first birthday party for one of the Johnson kiddos (Aaliyah's 4th), and we even got to see Grandma and Grandpa Hornickel a couple of times.

Here are some pictures from the trip:

The Johnson cousins reunited. And yes, Aaliyah and Mulu have glitter on their faces. :)

Charlie and Evie "cuddling".
