Update

Last week Monday we sold our house. It's a VERY bitter sweet time for us. While it's great that we sold it, we are having to pay more than we anticipated so it's a bit difficult to be super excited. It also is a very real reminder that we won't be living here much longer and thus this chapter in our lives will be ending soon and we'll be starting a new one: very bitter sweet. I'm slowly coming to the point of being excited about the sale, as it really is the first big thing we've tackled in order to move back to WI. Now we just have to find somewhere to live at the end of May...

So last week was a bit rough and emotional for me. And you know what happened? On Wednesday evening Evie said, "I love you" to me for the first time, not being prompted or anything. We were playing and she said it out of nowhere. MY HEART MELTED!!!! It's probably one of the coolest moments I've had with her, yet. MAN that's an unbelievable feeling!!! And that moment definitely reminded me that no matter what happens that may be stressful and uncertain, ultimately it doesn't matter as long as we have each other. That little girl is SUCH a blessing and really I'm SO lucky to have the husband, family and friends that I do.

Easter and stuff

April was fun for the Hornickels. Here's what we did:

Evie had her first Easter egg hunt. Easter started out with an egg hunt at the church daycare. Apparently she loved it! Then later she had another egg hunt at home:

Next year we TOTALLY have to hide the eggs a little better...

So some of the eggs had goldfish crackers in them and some had jelly beans or M&M's. Well it sure didn't take her long to figure out that the crackers just weren't gonna cut it. If she opened one to find crackers she'd close it back up and say, "Naaaaaaoooooooooooo." When in the world do they learn that??!!

We also had a bunch of friends over for a late lunch and the annual Egg Crackoff. (Thanks to Lex for teaching that new tradition to us a few years ago.) Even Evie participated, and I felt like an aweful mom after having beaten her in our bracket...but she got to break a bunch after that, I swear...)

In April we also took Evie to the Denver Zoo for the first time. I thought she'd go crazy like she did in the pet store, but she was pretty quiet throughout the day. We think she was just soaking it all in. Her favorite was watching the otters swim around and do backflips. So we got her "Olivia the Otter" to bring home. She sleeps with her every night now, so maybe the zoo wasn't so bad afterall. :)

Then a couple of weeks ago Kyle completed his second sprint triathlon. He did really well! (Evie and I were his cheering section. GO DADDY!!)
