Evie Monster

Evie's newer thing lately is she makes this noise that sounds like Grover or the Cookie Monster (kind of a raspy-voice-talking-thing). It's pretty hilarious and kind of in line with her fake burps. So when she does it we call her Evie Monster. She is also mastering rolling around on the floor and gets around pretty easily. And though you can't tell by these pictures, her hair is really coming in! It's pretty light, but is getting thicker by the week, I swear! :)

A couple of posts ago there's a video of Grandma Hornickel showing Evie how to do the "ba ba ba" sound by tapping her mouth. Well, Evie figured out how to do it herself! She's just so fun and funny!!

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

Happy Easter Everybody! These past 2 weeks since I put up a new post have been very productive for little miss Evie! A couple of weeks ago she just took off! She's rolling like crazy! Kyle picked her up from daycare and our daycare lady said, "I put her down on the floor, went to get a glass of juice and by the time I came back she was across the room!" So of course I had to try it at home that night and sure enough, off she goes! It's super cute
Her other new tricks include waving bye (she does that one about half the time), she can pretty much sit up on her own (though we still have to be right there cuz she's still pretty tipsy), she's holding the bottle by herself (a little awkward but it's VERY helpful) and is eating veggies now! Unlike her parents, she even enjoys carrots. (Was crossing my fingers on that one... :). And I'm not sure that it's a "trick", but this week she got her first cold. She's been a trooper: doesn't seem to mind that she's pretty congested and has to breath through her mouth. :(

Here are pictures of her in her adorable Easter dress, sitting by herself!
And Louie was getting "into" the holiday spirit as well. Hee hee... he'd do ANYTHING for a treat! :)
Thanks for the ears Grandma Hornickel!

Grandma & Grandpa's Visit

Kyle's parents came to visit this past weekend and we had a great time. Evie talks a lot, so Grandma Hornickel taught her a new trick while she's "chatting" (see the video). Grandma Hornickel also has a knack for taking SUPER cute pictures. Here are a bunch of our growing Evie!

Unfortunately the adorable Badger gear didn't help them win the basketball game. (Thanks Uncle Ryan and Aunt Niki for the outfit!)

It was in the 70's so Evie got to wear her first summer dress!

Crinkle Nose

Last week Evie's big trick was that she started crinkling her nose when she smiled. It's seriously the CUTEST THING EVER!!! It's been hard to get it on camera cuz she's still distracted by the flash. (And seriously, the pictures don't do it justice!)

Trip to WI

A couple of weeks ago, Evie and I flew to WI for a week to spend time with my dad who had heart surgery. We had such a great visit with everyone! Dad's doing SO well and it was nice to relax with the fam. We got to go to our first birthday party for one of the Johnson kiddos (Aaliyah's 4th), and we even got to see Grandma and Grandpa Hornickel a couple of times.

Here are some pictures from the trip:

The Johnson cousins reunited. And yes, Aaliyah and Mulu have glitter on their faces. :)

Charlie and Evie "cuddling".

Raspberrys, Giggles and Cereal

This week's "tricks" include the perfection of blowing raspberries. Yesterday she was doing them all evening long. It's hilarious! She'll stick out her tongue and let the spit fly for those suckers. :) We've been getting her to giggle a bunch this week too. That is DEFINITELY the best sound ever!! Seems like the funniest thing to her is when we whisper in her ear. She's also got some pretty tickelish feet.
This week also marked the end of an era: Evie's last time nursing was on Friday morning. I have mixed feelings about it, but 5 months was a good start and she likes the formula and everything, so all is good. The highlight though was that she started "eating" her first cereal on Sunday. She did pretty well for her first time! A little messy especially when she decided to blow some raspberries with a mouth full of cereal, but all in all it wasn't as messy as I thought it was going to be. Here are some pics:

Her very first spoonful.

There was probably more on her bib than on her face... not too shabby! :)

The Latest Tricks

Sorry it's been awhile since I've updated this...
Evie has been an absolute RIOT lately!! Her coolest trick was rolling over from her tummy to her back a couple of weeks ago. She did it a few times and then hasn't been interested in it again since. But the thing that cracks Kyle and I up daily is her chatting! Since my parents came to visit last weekend, she has been talking non-stop! She moves her mouth and tongue all around to make all sorts of different sounds, as if she's saying actual words. Throw in some I'm-having-a-fun-time screams in there and we've got ourselves Miss Chatty Cathy! It is just hilarious. She's smiling all of the time, even when she wakes up in the morning. Can't beat that!!

This is her "good morning" smile when she woke up.

Zerberts from Daddy.

Our happy little girl!

Gotta have some red dress pictures for Valentine's Day!
